This cold weather jacket by Arctix is the first "gondola" style outerware I've ever worn. I wasn't really certain I would like the longer hanging back to this particular syle jacket on me personally, but not only is it great added protection from the cold, it also looks casual and sporty on. The jacket performs well against the cold temperatures, wind and wet without being bulky. This Arctix's Gondola style jacket's cut lends itself to a more slimming silhouette. As I'm not into skiing or snow sports, I thought the longer hanging back of this Arctix jacket would be lost on me. I was wrong. Having that extra length of insulation covering my backside provides an additional barrier from the cold and seems to do a fantastic job of keeping body heat trapped within. Other pluses that bear mentioning are as follows: The hood has a toggle drawstring that can be adjusted to hug the head and a zipper where it can be removed easily. Being able to wear the jacket without the hood makes it outerwear that can transition between seasons. The front two way zipper opens seamlessly and the placket overlay creates a greater seal. The sleeves also boast an adjustable strap closure in addition to the elastic inner cuffs. There are two inside Velcro closure pockets and three outside zipped pockets, one being on one sleeve. I really am enjoying this Arctix outerwear and think it looks as good as it performs. One doesn't need to be into skiing or snow sports to love and appreciate all it has to offer. It's made the cold winter weather more tolerable for me with it's waterproof material, detailing, and overall thermal properties.
