I was hoping for a large, thin mouse pad, so I took a chance. The texture turned out to be a problem, the pattern is raised and kind of fuzzy. The size was about right for what I wanted, and the thickness was also good. However, the texture makes it useless as a mouse pad. I'm sure the texture makes these better for the purpose for which they were made - stair treads. I still win - Two of them are currently serving as a rug in a tight spot, the low profile stays below the door. They stay put well enough I haven't bothered to tape them together. Seven treads came in the box, so I have 2.5 more rugs this size! Small, low profile rugs are hard to find.
