I did a ton of research before choosing these shelves. My two kittens are 6 pounds and 7.5 pounds, and they have plenty of room on these shelves to lay and sit. The only reason why I deducted a star was because (like other reviewers mentioned) the wall anchors are TERRIBLE. Every single one broke for me. Pain in the butt. I had to run to the store to buy my own. Other than that, they were fairly straightforward to install. They seem plenty sturdy for the kitties. P.S: As you can see in my photos, I covered the shelves with drawer liner to add some traction so the cats wouldn't slip off! Plus it's super cute with the marble (:
