BIG improvement to my last set
We recently moved and I left behind my lobby dustpan and broom. (First off, a lobby dustpan is the best way to go to save your back and do a quick clean. From the longer handle to the container holding in the swept debris - there are a few but significant reasons to invest in one though they are more expensive that a traditional one, the value to cost difference makes it more than worthwhile. Also, they are just as easy to store along with your brooms/mops.) This particular set is an improvement on my last set in the following ways: the dust pan itself has an angled rubber liner in front that makes sweeping in the smallest particles possible. (My old one didn't have the liner and so I had to do the "sweep - pull back - sweep - pull back" dance.) ..... next this one has sturdy teeth at the top of the dustpan, so when the broom collects hair/dust/lint which usually get tangled into the bristles, you can now "comb" the broom using the teeth. (Otherwise, you have to grab and pull with your hand which isn't the worst thing, but if you can avoid it - why not? This helps with my allergies too.) Lastly this is set with clips together, so can be stored very compactly together (or still separately if preferred on hooks). The materials are nice - plastic dustpan - metal handles which aren't too heavy and don't feel cheap - and nylon bristles which are dense but very flexible so it's easy to sweep under furniture. It is asy to rinse and dry all parts. I don't mind the smaller width compares to some brooms because I don't find that a wider brush makes for easier household cleaning. This is simple to pop out and tidy up on a daily basis. The ONLY reason I'm giving this a 4 out of 5 stars (really, I wish I could list it as 4.5 stars) is because the dustpan had a large manufacturer sticker/label (It covered the whole top of the pan.) whose adhesive did not allow for easy removal. It is possible, that the hot weather had something to do with it? (It arrived neatly packed and very easy to put together.) So I just spent about 30 mins picking and scrubbing away at it. As a consumer, knowing there are options to avoid having to do this (thin cardboard sleeves or using 4 glue dots in the corners, for example) makes it noteworthy. This will not prevent me from buying another set so I can have a couple in my home. (I would use this outside or in an unfinished garage as there are other types of brooms - like a push broom or one with slightly stiffer bristles for scrubbing at some dried dirt/spots - that would suit the job better.) But for indoors, I'm very happy with this one.
