I love this waffle iron. After reading all the reviews I ordered this and the first thing I did was to read the instruction book. I followed everything on it except I did wash the grill plates in the sink, rinsed them and then rinsed them again with distilled water to be sure no hard water spots would be on them. And cooked my very first waffles this morning. No problems at all. The waffles did not stick at all and were browned to perfection. I used Crisco oil to coat the grill plates the first time and a very little of Crisco grill spray each time I made a waffle. I bought the waffle iron that has the copper colored ceramic coated grill plates. I set the dial on 2 and cooked my waffles for 6 minutes. UPDATE, I have had this now for almost 2 months, it is wonderful. Still makes the best waffles ever. You MUST read the directions, if you do and you first wash then rinse and let dry the plates, then coat with oil and then use oil spray when you use it the waffles will not stick.
