Our home has many very large windows, which are very pretty, but it reaps havoc on our utility bills and our decor. In the summer it's blazing hot, in the winter it's horribly cold, and all year round it's super bright, which fades the color of our carpet and furniture. I bought these in a couple of different colors to keep each room a more even temperature and block out the blinding light. These are perfect for what I needed. They are more "light filtering" than "black out" - so for those of you looking for a pitch black room, these are not going to do the job. The beige makes the room more dim, but not dark. The navy, which I used in our sons' room, definitely does make it darker. If you're looking for black out, I would literally go with the black curtains paired with black out horizontal blinds. The fabric is very nice, soft and durable. I tossed them in the dryer with a few fabric sheets just to get the wrinkles out before hanging them and they came out beautifully. They are true to size. I have a triple bay window that measures 105" across the front of the living room. To create a more "full look" I used 4 panels. The loops are very wide and do accommodate wide decorative rods. I like these very much and I plan to buy more of them for other rooms in our house!
