Compact, Efficient and Stylish Water Flosser.
I purchased this water flosser as an upgrade/replacement for my Waterpik Classic Professional which I have had for two years. In this review I'll describe the main features of the Sterile Countertop Water Flosser and then I'll do a comparison. A water flosser shouldn't replace traditional flossing but it does give you a deep down clean feeling that I had only experienced at the dentist prior to water flossing. The Sterline Water flosser comes assembled in the box with seven (3 Standard Nozzles for everyday flossing, a Tongue Scraper, a Orthodontic tip for braces, and a pocket tip for periodontal disease...gaps and pockets in the gums that gather food and debris). There is a hidden compartment inside the lid of the water reservoir that stores one standard nozzle, the tongue scrape, the orthodontic tip and the pocket tip. The second standard nozzle can be stored on the handle itself, and the third standard nozzle is homeless. The reservoir can hold 600 mL of water. The unit is 7 3/4 inches tall and doesn't take up much counter space at all measuring 5 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches. The cord on the handle is generous and is about 3 feet long. The handle attaches to the base via a magnet which is slightly finicky at first, but works well once you figure out how to place the handle. I might put a sticker on the handle to mark where the magnet is to aid in placing it on the corresponding magnet on the base. There is a knob that doubles as an on/off switch for the pump that controls the water flow. It is advertised as 10 speeds, but really its a continuous knob. There is a built in timer which pauses at the 30 second and 60 second marks, the pump automatically stops at 2 minutes. There is no pause at 90 seconds. If you turn the water flow all the way up to 10, then 500 mL of water is pumped out over two minutes so you don't have to refill it during a flossing session. The water pressure at this speed is very high (you can squirt someone 20 feet away if you want to). The highest speed I can comfortably use is 8. The handle fits comfortably in my hand and it has a simple on/off switch that will switch the water flow on and off, but does not effect the pump. In order for water flow, both the on/off switch on the base which controls the pump has to be on, and the on/off switch on the handle has to be on to allow water to flow through the handle. The tubing has memory in it and quickly and neatly coils up and stores inside the base when not in use which makes it a welcome aesthetic addition to my bathroom counter. The Sterline water flosser is easy to use. First I fill the reservoir which detaches from the base so you can fill it under the faucet, turn on the pump, and set the speed. Then I put the nozzle in my mouth and lean over the sink. When I am ready, I turn on the handle and the water starts flowing. I let the water flow out of my mouth into the sink. One you get used to it, there is no water spray or mess when using it. Comparison of the Sterline and the Waterpik Classic Professional Water Flossers The Sterline takes up about 20% less counterspace than the Waterpik. The Waterpik is stronger, but I never use the highest speeds because I find them uncomfortable. The Sterline has a water flow rate for 250 mL per minute at its highest setting, the Waterpik has a water flow rate of 500 mL per minute at its highest setting. The Waterpik comes with three nozzles and the Sterline comes with six plus a tongue scraper. Replacement Waterpik nozzles are readily purchasable. I could not find replacement Sterline nozzles. Waterpik and Sterline nozzles are not interchangeable. The Waterpik's reservoir holds 1000 mL and the Sterline holds 600 mL. The Sterline has automatically shutsoff automatically at 2 minutes with pauses at 30 and 60 seconds. The Waterpik runs continuously with no pauses or stops. The Sterline has a continuous water flow control knob listed at 10 settings on the base. The Waterpik has six articulated settings that you set on the handle. I purchased this product at a discount in exchange for my unbiased and honest review. If this review was helpful to you, please click on the YES button.
