READ THIS REVIEW IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING THIS HEATER
If you are looking to purchase this -READ THIS REVIEW! I purchased the Comfort Zone CZ220 for my garage that is 19'L x 14'W x 10'H at the peak. This heater is rated for anywhere from 600-1000 sq ft (depending on which site you go to). My garage being under those specs, this heater should be perfect. Here is a list of things I used to wire up my heater properly into my sub panel in my garage: -30A double pole breaker -15' 10/2 NM wire (black/white/ground) -15' flexible conduit -1/2" water tight conduit connectors (x2) -one for sub panel & one for heater I hardwired the heater to my panel routing it less than 5 feet from the panel. I first killed the power at the main in my house, then the sub main power and tested both phases to assure there was no power. I installed the 30A breaker in the panel and the black and white wires were connected to each pole on the 30A breaker and the ground to the ground bar in the panel. I then wired up the other end of the wires to the heater (which knockouts are available in multiple spots on the sides/rear of the access panel for your conduit) *white goes to L1 *black goes to L2 and the ground goes to the green ground screw. VERY simple hook-up even for the novice do-it-yourselfer. Dont be confused about which wire goes to L1 or L2 because it really doesnt matter. Just make sure it is properly grounded. Now, I'm all hooked up and ready to turn it on. I flip the breaker and voila....fan begins blowing and heat begins blowing. It runs very quiet and seems very well made. No buzzing/humming/rattling etc. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE SIZE-this thing cranks! I can feel the heat blowing from over 15' away which is amazing for this size and how quiet it is. It was 24 degrees F in Michigan the day I installed it and it took about an hour or a bit more to bring it from a frigid cold to approx 65 deg F. I came back out and was impressed with how warm it had gotten in such a short time. I switched it from 5000W to 4000W now that it is up to a decent temp in the garage and it keeps my garage a constant & toasty 70 Deg F with ease. The thermostat is pretty easy to set. Just get the room to the temp you want, then dial it back til it shuts off. There is no "temp" setting in degrees but is labeled with a dial from low-high The cycle times are different from application to application I'm sure, but in my application I have a 1 car garage that is now insulated top to bottom with R13 and partially drywalled. The insulation around the big door is terrible. With all of that in consideration this heater is more than enough for my application. On a cold, below freezing day my cycle times are short with 9 min ON/17 min OFF. You cant beat the cost/quality/quiet/etc for the price. I got mine delivered to my door for less than 150 plus add 35 or so in extras needed to hook it up. If you are budget minded and looking for a great heater that is easy to hook up and very cost effective....look no further. Now that I have witnessed what this heater is capable of, I have no doubts about its claims on square footage it can heat. After doing the math I am guesstimating that it will cost approx 70 a month to run this heater but the truth will be when I get my bill. I am 2 weeks into the month as of this review, so I will update with power consumption once it is calculated accurately.
