Lots of fun - seems quite accurate - medical test included as a bonus
My husband and I had a lot of fun having our recently-adopted dog DNA tested. The results said she was 3/4 of the breed we had guessed based on her looks, behavior, and state of origin, and 1/4 of a breed that makes sense, but that we couldn't have guessed on our own. The company knew nothing about our dog except her weight, so we are impressed with the accuracy of the test. The cheek swabs were easy to take and mail in. The results came in early (just under 2 weeks instead of the 2-3 week estimate). Wisdom Panel 2.5 also includes a test for the Multi-Drug Resistance-1 gene, which makes some dogs react to certain drugs badly, so you get a little practical medical information with the breed results. (We are happy that our dog's MDR1 test was normal.) FYI: The 3.0 panel is not available on Amazon, only directly from the company. The difference is that 3.0 tests for coyote & wolf ancestry, plus a few additional rare breeds (beyond the 200+ breeds covered by 2.5). You can see the comparison of the tests on the company's web site. 2.5 was all we felt we needed to figure out our hound, who, by the way is not a tall Beagle, or a Beagle-greyhound mix. She is 3/4 Treeing Walker Coonhound and 1/4 American Foxhound. Now we can answer the question!
