Great smoker with modifications!!!
This smoker does not work well out of the box and needs a few modifications for it to be a great smoker! First thing you have to do is get BBQ silicone and put it on every seam on the inside of the grill and especially where the fire box and grill come together Then you need to throw away the thermometer that came with it and get a 3 inch and two 2 inch River Country thermometers.
What I did I took the ash basket that came with the grill and turned it upside down and put two pieces of scrap metal on each end so it was off the bottom and made it into a baffle which worked perfect! Next I made a 12x12x6 charcoal basket out of flat piece of expanding metal, so I could slow the burn down more. I used 2 fire bricks on the bottom to balance the heat out more. Then I added a piece of 1 1/2 inch angle iron to the sides to seal up the gap and used BBQ gasket on the angle iron on the sides, back and front. I also put 1 1/2 inch angle iron on the inside of the fire box, so the fire basket has something to rest on.
Now it is a perfect smoker with the mods! I provided a bunch of pictures of my mods.
