I don't review a lot of Amazon products, but I was so impressed by this one, I felt I owed it a good word. - The price is right! - High quality materials (for particle board) - Thoughtful & sturdy design - Well labeled parts & easy-to-follow instructions Being 20-something, I've assembled and owned my fair share of cheap particle board furniture. I've paid more than the price of this shelf for dinky little drawers half as well-made. So... I was pleasantly surprised at the number of parts, their organization, and the nice heavy boards as I unboxed it. The directions and diagrams are quite clear. The different parts were labeled with stickers, and the various small parts were packed in small individual zipper bags. It was nice not struggling with guesswork or frustrating packaging. It took a good long while to assemble (you can spend less time if you're more careful than I am, and don't screw 3 pieces on with the unfinished side out) but the process made me feel like I could confidently put a lot of weight on these shelves. The sections are joined by pegs, cam screws/locks, *and* long screws for a very firm connection. The backing is actually pretty thick chipboard (no cardboard!) and it's attached with enough nails that you'd probably have to make a concentrated effort to break through it. (No more busting the shelf by pushing a book in a little too hard!) The shelf pegs are metal instead of plastic. The shelves have grooves to accommodate the pegs, so they look good and don't slide around. I didn't use them, but this shelf also comes with wall mount brackets as a safety measure for people with adventurous little ones. I bought the shelf to try to salvage this stupid waste of closet space, eaten up by our poorly conceived built-in closet desk. I was thrilled to confirm that the fit is EXACTLY perfect! It looks so nice though, it's almost a shame to tuck it away in a closet. I feel pretty silly for my purchases of overpriced & inferior furniture before this. I'll be going to this seller first for cheap furniture in the future. Thanks!!
