They started coming out of the woodworks!
I have been fighting with Indian meal moths since I got an infested bag of cat food a few years ago. To combat the problem, I have taken to vacuum-bagging and storing my flour and infestible items in cans and plastic containers to keep them out.
I have also been employing moth traps to eliminate as many of them as possible. I had been using a popular brown-colored trap with some success, but during a reorder I saw the listing for Dr. Killigan's and decided to give them a try. The people at Dr. Killigan's appeared eager for my opinion as they were asking me about the traps before they arrived. I assured them I would give an honest opinion once I received them.
The first thing I noticed when I received the traps was that there is no separate lure to stick into the glue. The glue inside the trap appears to have the lure built into it. I just peeled off the paper, assembled the trap (Tab A into Slot B) and put it out where I expect the invaders to be. As soon as I pulled the paper off, I had three moths come out from hiding nearby, eager to get trapped. Two of the three didn't make it that far. Might as well save the trap for more occupants.
In the matter of a couple of hours, I had already trapped six moths in one trap, and three in another near the pantry. When I got up in the morning, several more were caught. I gave these a few days to work their magic, and placed a third trap out on the porch, near where the moths have been using the kitty boxes to reproduce (corn-based litter), and that has really cut down on the numbers this year. Mind you, I have been using the brown-colored traps for a couple of years, and while they are pretty good, it appears Dr. Killigan's are even better. I'll definitely be getting more if or when I need them. Great job, people!
