Works well with practice
I reviewed this product for my site. It heats up fairly quickly, but it's hard to know because there is no power light, indicator, or on/off switch. You should keep a piece of scrap plastic handy before you take it to your project. You MUST use it with a heat-resistant (silicone) mat, or else you will burn your work surface. The fusing/cutting tip does a fine job- just hold it at a 45-50 degree angle for best results. You can also make pinpoints by going straight up and down and it will fuse multiple layers together (I did 4 of the fusible plastic paper.) I also made free-hand shaker-card shapes as well. The perforation/sealing wheel looks a lot like a marking tool for sewing- it leaves little dashes, perfect for making pockets. This tip needs a bit of a learning curve so that you can get the right speed- too fast, and it won't fuse. Too slow, and it will 'drag" and actually cut through. Practice helps. The stand is a bit rickety- I prefer a ceramic mug to "park" mine in. You can also cut sandwich bag plastic, clamshell packaging, stencil plastic, and poly bags with this tool- so if you like mixed media or are super into recycling, this is great.
I would love to see a second generation with an on/off switch and indicator light so that you know it's up to temperature.
