I primarily purchased since we've always had swarms of gnats in the summer, with dozens getting in the house when letting the dogs out at night. Started using early in the season to hopefully head off before we have the larger problem in the warmer summer months, so time will tell. It works well at attracting and killing gnats and smaller moths. We don't have too many mosquitoes yet to tell how well it will do with them, but works well for the purpose that I purchased for. I just use a piece of straw to knock bugs off the grids that get stuck because I worry that something harder might hurt the bulb, then easy to clean them out with the removeable bottom. Update - Not only has this been effective for gnats, but it works extremely well with beetles as well. It doesn't seem to kill all of them which I assume is due to their hard coating, but they fall to the bottom of the zapper and I just empty them into a water container to finish the job. The attached picture is just one night's worth of beetles collected at the bottom and I'm happy that so many won't be in my garden doing damage.
