I ended up buying 2! /Edited
For many years I would spend a few dollars on a toilet cleaning brush and holder and really not think much of it. I had to do this quite often.
What I have noticed through the last 10-15 years is that the metal used in the part of the brush that holds the bristles to the handle rust out so fast. This may also be in part that the holder of the toilet brushes I have been buying do not really have a way of quickly drying out, in turn accelerating the rusting process.
Okay this OXO toilet brush is really nice.
I like how it conceals the brush when in its holder. It easily pulls out and the holder, remains open waiting for the brushes return, and then closes very nice holding the brush securely.
The brush bristles do not seem to be held together with metal like the inexpensive brushes I have previously purchased. They are coming out of the bottom of the thick plastic handle like a high quality industrial brush.
The base also seems to rid itself of any residual water relatively quick. I like that the water dries fast in the base thus not allowing for optimal bacterial growth.
I really like this toilet brush and feel that it is well built. I feel that it is going to last me for many years to come. I will however update this post if anything that changes my opinion about this product occurs.
EDIT: 5/12/14 I noticed that another reviewer commented that this toilet brush had replacement brush heads available. I never noticed this and found this to be a tremendous bonus. The brush head unscrews and you can screw a new head right on. The heads are sold right here on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/OXO-Grips-Toilet-Brush-Replacement/dp/B0000CFNXV/ref=pd_sim_hg_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=1X90DT0KRGX34Q3FZPPX . Very cool.
7/21/15 - Both of the units are performing fantastic. No problems to report here.
Thanks for reading.
