They work. Period?
No, more than that. I have a large garden with varied plants and fruit trees on automatic deep water systems. Fine. But the hanging plants just kept dying. My plant supplier - with an evil grimace - handed me over a potted plastic plant! He said he wanted to see if I could even kill this one too! Cute. Real cute.
These simple cones cured that.
The wine bottle thing does not just keep the plant wet. It is so VISUAL. I had no idea just how much water the hanging plants used. A small one is taking one full wine bottle a day! It's HOT and evaporation must be way more than I imagined. I now have a very good sense of water consumption for those. Sooooooo, I did it to a few tomato plants as well (off the auto water system) just to learn how much they drink. A small potted tomato plant with early green tomatoes is using two bottles/day.
