I recently purchased a new Kindle fire and needed virus protection. I have owned several of the years and used Webroot. Much to my surprise, Webroot, was no longer available in the app store. After several phone calls, I found out that most of the popular virus protection apps were not compatible with Kindle. I reluctantly chose the original free version version of this app. I was told by the experts to only use the apps available in the Kindle store. Like most of the comments, the app would scan and show 2 threats and allegedly remove them. My thinking at the time was that it was better than nothing. Recently, I tapped on the app and was required to upgrade. I checked the app description and discovered that it was recently upgraded. After way to much time thinking about it, I followed the steps required and purchased the upgrade (under $5 a year plus tax). I then hit scan and waited and waited and waited for the scan to complete. After about an hour of scanning and still not completed, I assumed there was a prob!em. I decided to exit the app and try again. The same results. After a little trial and error, I figured out that the first cleaning took several hours, over the course of two days. Also, I figured out that by tapping the screen, I can see which app it was in the process of cleaning. Once the initial process was completed, I can now conduct a full scan in less than minute. The information provided is much more detailed and frankly I feel more confident that it is doing something. I also like that the app purchase was made through Amazon and can be managed through them. I have the option to cancel the automatic renewal near the one year date, especially if the price goes up dramatically. So far I like the app and will continue to use it if the price stays about the same. (Note: if you are currently using, Webroot virus protection, on your older Kindles do not stop the renewal process, unless you want to lose it. I had it on one 5+ year old model and I wanted to transfer it to the new one. According to a Webroot technician, kindle hasn't updated its program in order to download the app)
