caught a rat
We had a large rat that was sneaking into our yard to feed on grains falling off our birds feeder. We left the trap door open, unarmed for a few days, to give him time to adjust with the new object in his path. He was shy for a few days, but then he entered the trap, attracted by the cheese and the peanut butter we placed there. Once we felt he was comfortable with the trap, we armed it and we caught it the next day.
Poor animal, he was so scared when we got close to him. He screeched for a while, tried to chew on the trap bars, then tried to push it open in quite a few creative ways. We put the trap in our car and drove a few miles to a forested area. The rat calmed down inside the car, once he saw we did non intend to harm him, so the ride was uneventful. We released it in the forest.
We recommend this trap. It's solid, large enough not to harm the animal inside, easy to transport and easy to clean after releasing the animal.
