Lightweight, HOT!
This product really needs a more helpful review, so I'll start now & update the review if I have further thoughts. To start with, boy does this thing get hot! Too bad they don't specify how hot in the description (not that I found). Just the wattage is given. The two temps listed on the gun are 572 & 1000 degrees. Hotter than I need, but I wanted an inexpensive heat gun mainly for handling shrink tubing. I just didn't expect it to be so hot. The body stays completely cool while in use. The gun weighs only 1 pound, not including the cord weight--I weighed it on a sensitive postal scale. The cord brings it to about 1.4 pounds. Pretty light & easy to handle. The heat gun can rest flat on its back, balanced by the handle. The air intake is on the sides and the back is not ventilated, making it safe to operate in this position. The switch stays in whatever position you set it, with the lower temp also having a lower fan speed. The cord is not grounded, which is fine since they body is plastic. All of the nozzle accessories pictured are provided, along with instructions. The build quality is OK, though not as stellar as a Porter Cable. It's solid & easy to use, even if the label sticker doesn't quite fit correctly. As should be expected, after the first time you use it a little smoke comes out. Shouldn't be anything to worry about--it's a heat gun! So far, I would recommend this is an inexpensive and basic heat gun.
