I had a cheaper plastic electric kettle. The water tasted very gross & the smell was terrible, so I bought this one because it was metal & glass. It looks just like it is pictured online. There is enough space to hide the wire under the stand. Unfortunately there is plastic under the cap cover and the filter is metal but attached with plastic, but it does not make any contact with the water while boiling so at the end the water does not have any bad flavor or smell. And of course the kettle itself very pretty. The light from the blue button (it's not a button really) creates cute blue dots through the glass while water is boiling and it just makes the whole thing prettier.
