One thing that really annoys me is when people write reviews when they've just taken something out of the box, or worn it around the living room, since that does little to tell you how an item fits/holds up in the real world. However, I wore these boots on the hardest climb of my life, and now that I'm back I can whole-heartedly endorse them. I got them, and wore them right out of the box on a 7-mile hike in New York in October in the rain, and they kept my feet warm and dry, with no blisters/pain. Next, I wore them to Tanzania to hike Kilimanjaro during the mini-rainy season in November (which also included snow at higher elevations), and they again protected me from the elements and even after 7 grueling days on the mountain I only had one very tiny blister that I didn't even notice until I was back at the hotel in sandals. As with all hiking boots, I ordered a size up, since you need more room than in a normal shoe, so your toes don't get pushed up against the front when you're going downhill; that's quite painful. Best of all, Hi-Tec supports anti-poaching and rhino conservation efforts in Africa--I couldn't ask for a more perfect boot. Buy them!
