An update!... I contacted Disc-O-Bed directly and received a call the very next business day. Excellent customer service!! They are sending out, free of charge, new mats (made of a different material) and storage bags to the address where I will be camping next week!!! I am so excited. I will update after the trip how the new mats work out. Also, added two pictures of the current mats/cots set up in my basement. Apparently the four leggeds don't have a problem with the strong chemical smell. Old review... Not bashing, PLEASE READ! I absolutely LOVE everything about the Disc-O-Bed Cam-O-Bunk Cot, except the one thing that makes it impossible for me to use them. I purchased these cots about a year ago, on Amazon. They are the most well built, well designed, sturdy bunk beds I've ever encountered. Consider them something you will pass down to future generations! Even without written instructions, you can intuitively figure out how the whole thing goes together, and once you've done it once, it goes together in a matter of minutes. Yes, each cot in it's individual bag, is heavy, but that's why they are so STURDY! So... you're wondering, why the one star? Well, because of the smell. I've tried everything to get them to stop smelling like varnish, or hot plastic, or a newly painted room. I've hung the green "canvas" out on the line outside for weeks, I've set the entire thing up in the garage for months, and I've put it away in an outdoor storage unit. If Disc-O-Bed would have a 100% cotton canvas, all natural alternative to the synthetic smell of the green vinyl canvas that gives me headaches and makes me nauseous, I'd give it TEN STARS! Until I have someone make one for me though, the awesomeness of this product is useless to me. I value my health too much!
