You need to understand yarn to understand why some of the complaints here are silly
This is a wonderful cotton yarn. High quality, easy to work with, long lasting, versatile. It is mercerized so it will not be like sugar 'n cream if that is what you are looking for. It leans toward a strand of yarn being DK (3) size yarn. This is the case with any brand of mercerized cotton yarn. (Sugar 'n cream is not mercerized) Remember you are dealing with Amazon, a place that does not understand the need to send out multiple skeins of the same dye lot so don't expect to receive 4 skeins of the same dye lot when you order 4 skeins. Every dye lot is a little different so 3 skeins of tangerine when they are of 3 different dye lots will be slightly different colors. This is NOT a quality issue on Lion Brand Yarns. Lion Brand is a high quality maker of yarn. If you want to get the same color in every skein there are companies that make yarn that way so buy from them. Traditional, high quality yarn makers will make their colors of yarn by dye lots because that is how it was in the beginning and they are not going to change. They have no reason to. Personally I have have seen a large variation in color between dye lots in many different brands and types of yarn through the many years that i have been crocheting. (I learned about dye lots when I was a teenager) If you need multiple skeins of the same dye lot in order to complete a project you can either play Russian roulette with Amazon or purchase from a yarn or craft store where they will understand the need for skeins from the same dye lot. And you need to purchase enough yarn for your project in the beginning because once a store runs out of a specific dye lot there likely won't be any more. (I have not purchased the 3-pack of this yarn that Amazon has available and am still trying to find out if that 3-pack is all of one dye lot-that could help) A knot somewhere in a skein is also NOT a quality issue on Lion Brand Yarns. It is not considered an imperfection so the skein is not going to be sold as an "imperfect" skein. It is not wrong to find a knot somewhere in a skein, though most skeins will not have a knot somewhere. Makers of yarn do not want to waste yarn so when a huge, long piece of yarn comes to the end and they have more of that same dye lot they will just splice and keep going. No one cut the yarn then tied it back together! Anyone who knows how to crochet or knit well will know how to deal with a knot. Yarn has always been sold by weight, not size of skein. So depending on the yarn a certain number of grams will make a certain size skein which seem small or large. And pictures can always be deceiving. Price does vary by color but how the different prices are determined remains a mystery to me. Some that would be used frequently are not very expensive while others that might be more popular are more expensive. Whatever. Just watch your price so that you will be satisfied by getting what you want for a good price. And expect prices to change, just the same way they change at retail stores. If you understand yarn and understand Amazon you will do fine purchasing this wonderful yarn from Amazon.
