I love these. The freeze dried Neapolitan Ice Cream is my favorite snack. On my last order I received five packages. The first four were as expected. The fifth had a strange texture, it was slightly moist. Upon further inspection I noticed little pin point sized black specks. I initially just assumed it was maybe some really dense chocolate ice cream. I also noticed some pitting in the chocolate ice cream. Upon further inspection, the pitting was tunneling, the specks were likely insect eggs, and there were living and dead maggots in the package and crawling around on the plate I poured the ice cream out onto. Needless to say I will NEVER buy another Mountain House product. So I contacted Mountain House and they were quite responsive. The initial point of contact explained her process and said that what I had was impossible due to their packaging unless it was damaged in transit. She asked for photographs which I gladly sent. In a week I received a follow up e-mail stating the Mountain House QC department wanted me to return the packaging and they were sending out a pre-paid envelope. A few days later a box arrived with 6 ice cream packages, and 3 entree items along with the return envelope. I sent it back and expected that to be the end of it. A few weeks later I received another letter with the results of the testing they performed on the packaging. They discovered a small pinhole sized defect in the heat seal at the bottom of the pouch and stated they were examining the equipment on that line to make sure the issue isn't repeated. So I went from extremely disappointed to extremely impressed with their communication and customer service. I would buy again. Their response turned this 1 star review to a 5 star review, with insects in the product. I was that impressed.
