Pumping Freedom
I’ve been on the hunt for a hands free pump since I decided to EP for my son. After having to hide to pump with company, during birthday parties, holidays, etc. I’d had enough and was ready to give something I try. It was hard for me to justify purchasing a more expensive hands free pump without knowing it was going to work for me and be strong enough to pump the same amount of milk I depend on getting with my Spectra.
After reading reviews on this pump and considering the much less expensive price tag I purchased it. I cannot tell you how glad I am that I got this and how much I use it. Like anything, it took me a day or so to understand how to dissemble and reassemble it so that it worked perfectly when used. I have used the pump about 30 times and it has never leaked on me. I will contribute that to the fact that I ensure all the pieces are pressed and pushed together well before using. I also wear a nursing bra and typically will put a tank top over it to ensure the pumps are held in tightly.
PROS
-Having your hands free to do the dishes, tend to other children, cook, eat, fold laundry, drive, etc. The freedom it gives you is worth the price in gold.
-Works as well as my Spectra S1 with lots of suction levels and a massage option to use to stimulate expression before switching over to pump mode.
-Timer on the pump and shuts off automatically at 30 minutes
-Easy to disassemble
-USB charger makes it easy to plug this in
-The cups have a spout that allows you to pour the milk right into a bottle.
-Comes with clear, plastic zipper pouches for traveling. Fits easily in my tote bag.
-Can hold up to 6oz of pumped milk on each side.
-The price
CONS
-Is on the louder side
-All pieces must be pushed in and connected perfectly to ensure milk does not leak
-A bit bulkier than the sleeker designs of the more expensive hands free pumps
-Must be charged daily if using more than 3x’s a day for 30 minute sessions.
TIPS
-Set up a charger for the USB cables so that you can easily plug them when you’re done pumping. I wouldn’t wait till they’re out of a charge.
-Use nipple butter or cream every time you use the pump (I do this with my Spectra as well). It creates a good seal between your breast and the pump and makes pumping much more comfortable.
-A tighter tank over your bra will ensure the pump stays in place when you’re moving around or just always wear a pumping bra.
-Start at the lowest level pump suction and work your way up as you feel more comfortable. I don’t personally go over a level 4 and will get about 5 oz in 20 minutes.
