Comparison to Amish Country baby white popcorn seeds
I'm comparing two brands of white popcorn. The Amish Country - Baby White and Snappy White popcorn. Pictured is Snappy on the left and Amish on the right. After reading the description of Amish popcorn, I expected to see a smaller seed than the Snappy brand. They looked virtually identical but maybe the slightest bit smaller. The usual selling price per pound was similar. I used my Whirlypop to make a batch of popcorn only changing the seeds. 1/3 cup seeds, 1/3 cup Snappy Pure Coconut Oil for popcorn, 1 tsp popcorn salt. Size: As you can see in the picture, the Snappy (left) was a bit bigger than the Amish popcorn but not by much. I used the same volume of seeds and they made equal volumes of popcorn. Taste: Again, virtually identical. In a blind test, you wouldn't be able to tell a difference between the two brands. Both brands popped nearly all kernels and left behind no real hulls. Overall, there's not much of a notable difference between brands. I do enjoy the flavor of white popcorn over yellow as it has a better flavor note and fewer tough hulls to contend with.
