Even better than I expected!!!
Unless you are using a retractable clothesline, you need to order 2 of these posts. I knew this, but it would seem, from some of the reviews I've read, that folks don't realize this item is a single post.
I'll begin by saying that this t-post is much nicer than I expected and I am delighted with the quality. The powder-coated finish is bright white, smooth, and beautiful. The diameter and strength of the post is great! This will truly last me a lifetime.
Delivered lightning quick, as is always the case with Amazon! I highly recommend that you look at 6 each: Ace Wire Cable Clothesline (74121) and Minky Vt86602000 Mega Grip Blue Clothes Pins, 18-Pack. I purchased both and now I look forward to hanging laundry. That particular wire is braided for a low stretch factor, and is covered with PVC sleeve that will not stain your clothes! Nylon rope will pull knits and delicates, and unbraided wire will stretch with load over time. I spent a lot of time researching all of this, so I'm glad to save you all the reading I did. The clothes pins are a little pricey, but they are strong and well-made ... expect them to last. I also purchased Pop and Fold Clothespin Bag, which attaches right to the clothes line and slides along with you.
The reviewers that complain about the posts twisting obviously don't have the 2 outside lines at the same length and tension. This is not rocket science. You can also drill a hole near the base of the top section and install a set screw. So far, I've not needed the set screw, having the outside lines at the same tension is working great.
Instead of placing these posts directly in the ground, which would have shortened the clothesline considerably, I anchored some steel pipe in the ground with Quickcrete, and this posts slips over it. PVC pipe should work as well, but I had some steel stuff left over from another project, so it didn't cost anything extra. This way, I can also take the posts down during the winter months when I probably won't be hanging clothes.
Take a look at the photos I've uploaded to see the post up close. I will update this review should the need arise, but I doubt that it will be necessary. More than pleased with this purchase!!!
***UPDATE*** Still loving my clothesline setup! I wanted to let you in on another product that has really enhanced this setup. Using Nite Ize F9L-02-01 Large Figure 9, Black to put up my lines has worked out so beautifully. You do not have to tie knots, and if your lines becomes slack over time, you can tighten them up in seconds. It also makes taking the lines off the posts quick and easy. Found these kinda accidentally, but what a find!!
I also elected to install only 3 of the lines ... the 2 outside and the middle. More room between the lines allows more air flow, but if you have a ton of laundry, you might need all 5 positions.
***UPDATE*** My clothesline setup made it through Hurricane Isaac without even so much as a droopy line! Isaac was downgraded to a tropical storm by the time the eye passed over our farm, but we still had winds up to 60 mph for hours. The bag full of clothespins stayed on the line too. I am even more impressed than I was originally.
