The first unit that came to my home was not in an shipping box, but had been sent out in the manufacturer's box alone. This was a little surprising as I thought something mechanical should be protected better than that. When I opened the box, I noticed that one of the wheels was not attached to the bottom at all. Also, the float that is located in the collector bucket, to signal when the bucket is full, was detached on one side (broken). I called the customer service number provided, and without hesitation, they sent me a new dehumidifier. (This time it was in an outer shipping box). (They didn't want me to ship the other unit back...they said just keep it or dispose of it). This unit has been working perfectly for about a month now. It takes a lot of moisture out of the air quickly and thoroughly and is pretty quiet. I am happy with it. UPDATE: June 2018. I am happy with this product with one big issue: it frosts up A LOT! I have owned 3 other dehumidifiers (different brands) and I’ve never had this occur. I have to keep an eye on it so it doesn’t try to operate while frozen which would kill it I’m sure. It’s not in a cold location so not sure why this is happening. The only thing I can see is that the filter, which looks well made, doesn’t allow enough air in to circulate in the back of the unit. Not sure but if someone can shed some light on this and how to alleviate, would be great. UPDATE 3-2019 I think I figured out how to mitigate the freezing up issue...I had controls set to “continual” and, apparently, this was causing the problem. Turned off cont and no freezing since. Unit cycles on and off rather frequently, but so far this hasn’t bothered me too much. We’ll see how things go when the weather gets hot and humid. So far, this seems to be working. 👍
