Best In Class
We have a large house in the country with many windows. My wife loves window lamps as part of the Christmas decor, but I do not like all the cheap, dated, and fire-hazardous cords. Thus I embarked on a quest over this year to find the best battery lamps available. I wanted LED for long battery life, and I wanted something I felt would last a decade or more if taken care of.
I read hundreds (ok maybe dozens) of reviews and began purchasing samples of the ones that sounded the most promising. Some were better than others in terms of build and switch quality, but they all had the flaw of dimness and orange color.
The Thomas & Betts FPC1525A stand alone as being the best in their class of battery powered, LED lights.
Pros:
Build quality is excellent
Automatic switch evening/morning works well
2C batteries last far longer, and add mass to the base for stability
Light color is brighter, whiter, and cuts through to be well seen from the road
Switch settings for twinkle or solid
Did I mention the light color and quality? Trust me on this....the others look dim and pure orange in comparison. Wife approved.
Cons:
Price point is higher, but well worth the money.
C battery costs more, but again...longer life.
that's it.
I hope others of you will be able to find my research $ of use in your search. I ended up with 20 of these units...100% success rate.
