Here are some considerations for people who are shopping for a back massage cushion. First, some explanations about the differences between "1D", "2D", "3D" vs. "4D" massage chairs and cushions: The massage nodes of a "1D" (i.e., one-dimensional) massage cushion pad can travel only vertically up and down. The nodes cannot move sideways. A 1D massage cushion is commonly called a "rolling massager". The nodes of a "2D" massage pad can move up, down, AND sideways. So, the nodes can travel in "two dimensions", vertically and horizontally. The nodes of a "3D" massager can move up, down, and sideway; in addition, the nodes can push forward (press harder and further into your back and muscles) or pull backward, i.e., the nodes give a sense of "depth" when applying massages. The nodes of a "4D" massager can do all of above AND change/vary massaging speed; the nodes can speed up or slow down during massages, i.e., they have a "time" factor. The prices of 1D, 2D vs. 3D massage cushion pads are very comparable. Rolling, 2D and 3D massagers cost about the same prices. 4D pads are still very expensive and cost about $100 more. So, for the same price, I recommend buying a 3D massager over a 1D or 2D one. At the time of writing this review, there are only TWO shiatsu massage cushions on Amazon at the $100 price range that are 3D, (which also covers rolling and 2D,) and has a better than 4-star overall user rating. This is one of the only two. IMO, that should help narrow down your choices if you are looking for the best bang for the buck in this particular price range. I had bought another back massage cushion, a "rolling" back masssager, from Amazon before I found out about the different "dimensional" features. Then, as I was sitting, getting a massage from that other massager and surfing the internet, I read about and found out about the 2D, 3D and 4D stuff, (ah, the irony.) I quickly returned that other massager to Amazon and bought this one instead, and this one definitely feel better than the last one with the 3D feature turned on. There are lots of rolling massage cushions on Amazon that sell for similar prices, so watch out! Should you decide to buy this or the other 2D/3D massage cushion, you should NOT pay extra for the 2-year protection plan from Asurion - because Snailax already offers a 2-year warranty for this product that covers pretty much the same things, and the two plans overlap. That should save you about $8. (Many other massage pads cost about the same price but offer only a 1-year warranty, so you might want to pay extra for an extra year of extended protection for those massager.)
