Brutally honest review, you've been warned. + a recipe
This works wonderfully in baked products. Think whole wheat apple muffins, pancakes, or breads. I have noticed a big change in bathroom habits since using this without experiencing gas or bloating, but I was consuming 30-50g of fiber per day before I found this.
Chocolate fiber muffin Recipe:
1 egg
2 tablespoons oil/butter
1/2 c sugar
1 c milk
1/4 c cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 c flax
1/4 c psyllium husks
1.5 c oat flour (works better than wheat for this)
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Cream sugar, butter, and egg. Add milk. Mix dry ingredients in a separate bowl. Pour wet into dry, stir briskly. Put mixture in a greased muffin pan ( I use stoneware) bake for approximately 20 min. Less for metal pans more for ceramic. Each muffin has 3.6 grams of fiber and 1 teaspoon of psyllium husks.
Brutally honest part:
Tastes terrible in coffee. Becomes a snot like consistency in hot drinks if you don't chug it. It's like drinking sawdust in cold beverages. Even in a fruit and yogurt smoothie I drank immediately. I can eat a lot of nasty thinks in the name of health, but this isn't one I would do more than once. If you want something to mix in a drink, get the powdered version! That being said, I suffer from chronic constipation and psyllium fiber only thing I've tried that made a difference for me. I've been taking stool softeners daily with the high fiber diet for years with little impact. This is a life changer for me. Wish I would have found this years ago. I can finally stop obsessing over taking a BM. Please like my review if it helped you.
