I built my previous computer more than 6 years ago, and was due a refresh. So, naturally, I wanted the best bang-for-the-buck processor in my new build. Enter the i7-4790K. Four cores, eight threads, and a base clock speed of 4 GHz make this processor a best buy, IMO. They redesigned the thermal layer in this CPU, so the temperatures remain incredibly manageable while overclocking it. That being said, this processor is so fast that I haven't even bothered OC'ing it, and my setup is more than capable of doing so - it's paired with an ASRock Z97 motherboard, fast RAM, etc. This processor is a no-brainer for anyone looking to upgrade, and if you pair this with a solid state drive, it'll blow your mind how fast everything becomes. Amazon will only let me give it 5 stars, but it truly deserves more.
