an excellent addition to your smurf village
This a awesome. Seriously, I want to buy a dozen and make a little village in my back yard. It was super easy to put together. I did get some caulk though and put it along the top where the roofs come together before adding that top beam. In the reviews, a couple people had mentioned it leaked and that seemed like that top beam would be the culprit.
I've had it out on my uncovered porch for 2 weeks now. This is May so we're getting plenty of heavy rain. I checked yesterday and it's still nice and cozy and dry in there. I also have it sitting on some 4x4s, to keep it off the deck, which also helps to keep it dry inside.
In my neighborhood, we don't just feed the strays, we also catch them and take them in to be spayed/neutered and get their booster shots. Occasionally we're even able to home some. Providing a safe haven for them in my back yard makes them less prone to wandering off and making a nuisance of themselves.
There is a small cat flap on the back to allow a cat to escape if something comes after them in there. The flap only opens outward so no one can sneak up on them from that side. Though the entrance and the flap look pretty small, even the biggest cats seem to have no trouble getting in or out. It's pretty roomy in there too so more than one can be in there, including if you have a litter.
