Bought this for an aging woman. She loved it. Easy to use and very fast. As another reviewer mentioned, the five cup capacity is misleading. However, when filled with water it will completely fill two large mugs of coffee. The small amount of water heats up quickly. No timer but it does shut off by itself leaving the base heater on to keep the coffee hot. I think you have to shut this off completely to keep the machine from burning out. Oh, I almost forgot. It includes a permanent coffee filter. Update April 11, 2019. Long time, eh? Just saw this and realized I should have updated earlier to mention that this machine DOES shut down automatically to prevent burnout. I think they all do. Machine still working well and used every morning.
