**** BEST CAGE FOR RATS ****
EDIT: I posted a 23 second video of my rats wandering in the triple critter nation. For clarification, I do not breed rats. I adopted all these rats from a rescue center. I did not adopt them all at the same time. I first adopted one, and then adopted two more. Then I adopted a few more to the family. Etc. Etc. I just introduced them to one another after each adoption process. In this video are 10 or 11 rats. One boy and the rest girls. The boy was neutered and the girls were spayed.
EDIT:
I stopped using the mixing tub for the bottom tray. I ordered “cut to size acrylic sheets” and used acrylic cement/glue to glue the pieces together and made a clear acrylic bottom tray. It’s so much better now! I attached photos.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
I bought a double Nation and then an add on, making it into a Triple Critter Nation for my 5 pet rats. They have more than enough room. You can do so much with this cage. I took out all the shelves except for one half shelf and added a bunch of climbing things and accessories to it. You can easily attach accessories to this cage. My favorite part is it has great accessibility. One suggested improvement is that it should have a deep dish on the bottom to put in substrate. I had to buy a mixing tub from Lowe’s to put in the bottom for the shavings. I highly recommend this product. It’s better than Martins cages. I bought both a 699 Martin cage and it doesn’t even compare. I wish I had boxing the Critter Nation first instead of wasting money on the other cage. You won’t regret this purchase.
