A powerful message delivered in a family-friendly package
On the surface, this looks like it will be a fluffy teen romance but ends up being so much more. Not Cinderella's Type delivers a powerful message about emotional abuse in a semi-lighthearted story. As a parent, I appreciated the movie as a chance to introduce discussing emotional abuse, which tends to be a more overlooked and a culturally acceptable form of abuse. I loved how this story exposes the uncertainty, self-deprication, ugly and confusing experience that occurs with being emotionally abused while still being an appropriate movie for families.
