This product put an immediate smile on my 8 year olds face. She was ecstatic over the independence to speak with her overseas-based family, and to contact mom or dad at will when they travel for work. My rating of 4 stars is based on the quirk of functionality when using this on Kindle Free Time. In the Free Time environment, there are no pop-ups/notifications when a message or call is received (or maybe I missed a setting somewhere?). This is a bit of downer as it limits the effectiveness of Grandma and Grandpa initiating calls/messages to my daughter. She would only know there's a call if she happens to be in the app at that time. I do very much appreciate the safety features, including the control over contacts, and the option to receive notifications when someone initiates a conversation with my daughter.
