This POTANE Vacuum Sealer replaced my original FoodSaver brand purchased 20 years ago. With the multitude of vacuum sealers on the market. I needed to take some time and research brands and reviews. Going thru the reviews was a painful process. Trying to get real reviews, and flagging bogus ones. I decided on this POTANE Vacuum Sealer. First off my original FoodSaver had 2 modes. Push and hold the start button until the Foodsaver stopped. Or using the large mouth jar seal adapter with the same press and hold button. The options on the POTANE Vacuum Sealer are great. I can choose to just seal a bag, just vacuum or select auto mode. The just seal option is what I like a lot. With my old FoodSaver could not use the last 10 feet of the rolls of bags. The only way I could use the whole roll was to seal the begging of the bag, then unroll it. Seal the other end and roll it back up. Now I can customize sealing strength to suit my needs. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU PRESS BOTH CORNERS DOWN UNTIL THEY CLICK. if you do not the sealer will not work properly. BUT DO NOT STORE THE SEALER WITH THE SAID CORNERS LOCKED. this will deform the seal for the heating element. This machine is great. but I can't emphasize enough. "PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS" Most of the negative reviews were due to people not following instructions.
