Great product overall, requiring subscription for some features is not cool
This is one of the few big appliances that I have bought where pretty much everything just worked. Assembly was surprisingly painless and pretty straightforward. When I turned it on, everything did what it was supposed to on the very first try - the garage opener, the remote controls, the control panel, the outdoor panel, the backup battery, even the app. I don't like how exposed the belt is, other than that, everything is great. It's pretty quiet just as promised, and slows down just before it reaches the closed position. The indoor control panel is nice, it shows the temperature, time, and backup battery status, and its motion sensor triggers the lights. The app is surprisingly good - most proprietary apps for any kind of hardware are hastily put together, but this one almost follows the Android design guides and is easy to use. But here's my one gripe - while there is integration for IFTTT and Google Assistant, they require a subscription, which is ridiculous. I need to pay a subscription to control my garage door opener via IFTTT? I think Chamberlain will need to reassess what kind of product they're selling. It's a garage door opener. It opens and closes my garage. I have lots of home automation devices, some with a lot more functionality than that. None of them require a subscription. All in all, this is a fantastic product, but I have to dock a point for that absurd decision to put some features behind a subscription. I consider IFTTT and Google Assistant support a basic necessity at this point, not a premium feature that you can charge for.
