I didn't think it was working, stopped using it... And OMG it had been.
I have 2 cats. Kiwi, who spent at least 5 years of her life in a shelter before I adopted her, and so is quiet and skittish but knows how to defend herself. And Linus, who used to have an adopted little brother who worshipped him, and so doesn't understand why Kiwi, who is much smaller than him despite being 3 years older, won't let him be Alpha Cat. So he is a jerkface to her.
So I get the multicat diffuser. Within an hour of plugging it in, Linus goes up and rubs his face against it, so I guess he can at least detect something.
A month goes by and I notice it's beginning to run out. The hubs and I pause to consciously observe the kids. Linus is still chasing Kiwi around all the time. Is it just play fighting? They haven't become snuggle buddies or anything. So I unplug the diffuser.
That night, the yowling began.
You know how when you are on antidepressants, they tell you not to just stop them, you have to be weaned off or bad things will happen? I think this stuff is like Catbutrin or something, because Linus went from zero to roid rage. They were fighting, stray style, knocking over furniture, literally running into walls because they're both old and not as graceful as they used to be. The Alpha crap was awful. We had to lock him in the garage so that Kiwi could use the litter box. They have separate boxes, and he was still blocking her! The two day shipping to get a refill was the longest ever.
Now it's been a few months and the progress is more noticeable. They gave each other kissy face rubs when Kiwi came home from the vet the other day. She lets Linus sniff her butt. These things would have been unheard of six months ago.
