We received the bumper rail very fast. It was in excellent condition, there was no smell at all on the bumper. We followed the instructions to let sit for 2 hours to rise, however, I waited 72 hours and that was best. It does require more of a deeper fitted sheet, but it's not necessary. It has prevented my toddler from rolling out of her bed the last 3 nights. It does take up about 4 or 5 inches of sleeping space on her toddler bed, but she loves it. It was a really good purchase, not disappointed. It does stay in place, I actually tucked it under the mattress and bed railing under the bed, to give extra sturdiness :-)! This definitely beats the portal bed rails. We've now had experience with both and this is way easier to travel and move around with.
