This is not a book review in the standard sense. The 'Mueller Report' as it is commonly known, is not great literature or nonfiction. It is rather an extremely important lesson in civics and information for an informed electorate. And this review is a plea to anyone who happens across it to read the report! I downloaded my copy from NPR for free, but there are numerous good sources including Audible (for Free). Robert Mueller was asked to lead this investigation because of the high regard and respect that leaders across the entire political spectrum hold for him. He was FBI Director under both Republican and Democratic administrations. He is known as a by-the-book straight shooter. His career in law enforcement was stellar. He is a decorated and wounded Vietnam veteran. In short, he was the perfect candidate for this sensitive and critical assignment. The report itself is thorough, methodical, and comprehensive. It is at times, also devastating and jaw-dropping. Its dry legalese is at times difficult to wade through, but critical in closing out all questions. This report should be the first step in a national discussion. Is President Trump's behavior, lack of regard for the law, bullying tactics, and inability to be truthful something we can continue to overlook or not? How low a standard are we willing to accept in our national leader? And is he setting a new lower bar upon which we will measure all future leadership? I hope not. Additionally, somewhat lost in all the smoke surrounding the report is the simple truth that a foreign power (and avowed enemy of the U.S.) was able to influence the outcome of our election. What are we doing to prevent that from occurring again. And shouldn't our president, the spokesman for our country, be outraged and leading the effort to stop future interference? The silence in this regard is devastating. I urge everyone to read "Report on the Investigation into Russian Interference in the 2016 Presidential Election" by Robert S. Mueller.
