This is the perfect solution for getting our older golden retriever into our crossover vehicles - she can easily jump in and out, but as a precaution, we decided to go for a ramp - but as stated in earlier reviews, we made a little adjustment: I peeled off the sandpaper material that is supposed to be non-skid (which it is, probably, but will also abrade the dog's pads so badly that it is completely self-defeating!), and replaced it with artifical turf. I used double-sided indoor/outdoor fiberglass carpet tape and it works great! Since we have the turf in the back yard (we live in drought-ravaged California), she did not even hesitate to go up the ramp. I only wish that Solvit would use either textured ourdoor carpet or turf as the surface for the ramp instead of that sandpaper material. As an additional piece of advice, when replacing the lower portion of the ramp with whatever material you choose, make sure you leave a little extra to overlap the hinge so there is no gap when the ramp is in the open position.
