Finally mold free wheatgrass!
I bought this for wheatgrass..if you've ever grown wheatgrass you know the issue you have with mold..I was hoping to use this to soak the seeds as well but the holes are too big and some wheatberry seeds fell through but most just stuck in the holes and had to be pulled out ruining a good amount of them..so I soak and rinse the seeds in a jar with mesh over top and once the seeds have sprouted tails I line the white strainer tray with chemical free coffee filters (thicker and sturdier than paper towels) and completely cover the holes then use distilled water(so as not to introduce bacteria to prevent mold since I'll be using the lid) in a spray bottle and thoroughly wet the coffee filters and spread the seeds on top..no soil or substrate to cut down on mold..I then put the lid on and cover it with a dark towel and spray it daily until it takes root and the short, white grass blades just start to show..I then put it under my sky light and no longer use the lid..I remove the white tray with holes and use my sink sprayer or shower head ( for stronger water pressure) to completely soak the grass..this helps to rinse away any mold spores..I then let it drain well and return to green tray under sky light..I never let water sit inside the tray..I do this 1-2 times daily and viola finally wheatgrass without mold!
