Cured underarm odor!
If you're reading this you know what DE is; no need to go into its numerous applications. But I believe DE is what finally cured years of suffering with underarm odor!!! I'm not talking about the 'normal' stinky sweat odor - I'm referring to that pungent, extremely offensive, knock your boots off - can smell you coming from a mile away odor - that can accompany just a tiny drop of the oily substance secreted from the apocrine gland that microscopic beings feast on. Background: Several years ago - and for no reason I can think of, one of my armpits started smelling extremely foul, even if I wasn't sweating. No amount of bathing or deodorant would cure it (it returned shortly after showering!). I don't have to explain how it impacted my life, but it destroyed some of favorite clothes - if a drop of sweat got on my clothes it was ruined. Before it spread to my other armpit I was already seeking seeking medical help. My family doctor told me it was in my head (I promptly fired him after that), and my dermatologist blamed my hygiene habits, which was impossible. Not only do I shower twice a day but I didn't even allow shoes to be worn in my house for fear of tracking undesirables in my house! Long story made shorter... for 3 years I polluted my body with prescribed and over the counter bacterial/fungal remedies; even tried anti-anxiety meds. I tried every product on the shelf and any natural cure I could find. Not even a change in my eating habits, body detoxes or cold showers to reduce body temperature helped. 100s of dollars, hours researching, and embarrassing moments later, wearing underarm pads (pantyliners) was the only way to successfully manage it. Eventually I decided to give botox injections a try. It's considered a cosmetic procedure so I'd have to fit the bill myself - to the tune of 1000s a year - but I'm worth it, even if it only lasted a few months at a time. And I was actually in the process of finding a specialist when I decided to give this a try. Conclusion: The primary use for DE is for my veggie garden, but opted to buy food grade because I also wanted to validate some of the hype I've read/seen about consuming it. I had no expectation it would cure my armpit issue; it's consumed for other health benefits. After getting burned (again) from using the strongest anti-persperant on the market, I figured I'd use DE as the main ingredient in my own natural deodorant concoction. With no particular recipe in mind I made a cream by mixing it with coconut oil. I added a few drops of tea tree oil due to its antibacterial properties and lavender oil (for scent). I've tried tea tree oil several times in the past without success so I'm doubtful it was the sole miracle ingredient. The cream is actually like a brick at room temperature, but body heat melts it to the perfect spreading consistency. I used it twice a day after showering, and after only a couple of weeks, the microscopic critters invading my armpits were all dead! Final words: It's been over 6 months and that 'special' odor hasn't returned, even when I do sweat. In fact, nowadays I go without using any deodorant or anti-perperiant at all! I can't say for sure whether the secret was in my cream or consumption or a combination of both - but I'm 99.9% certain DE was the key. I haven't had the need to use my cream in several months, neither do I consume DE on a regular basis (even when I used my cream). I'm also not advocating this will cure you if you're suffering from abnormal underarm odor - different strokes for different folks. I'm just saying it worked for me.
