I have had this printer for a year now. In my opinion, this printer is a multifunction machine for an affordable price (Not really opinion just a fact). I have had no trouble with the scanning feature although I have only used it twice in the last year. The printer makes clear visually appealing prints which means it's cheap and does what it's supposed to. I was a little disappointed when I realized it didn't come with the needed usb to be able to print but when I called for the reasoning Cannons argument made sense. Most people do have old printers or an access of multiple cables to use since they are universal and they did not want to drive up the costumer costs for a cable that most people don't need. In that case I'm willing to suck it up. I bought a cable for less than $5 and my problem was solved. The installation was simple and after not using the printer all summer I was afraid I would have some kind of trouble. Actually I did have a problem it wouldn't print! I opened the machine and found a transformer my 3 year old must of shoved in there at some point. I was able to remove the toy and connect one plastic strip that was out of place and the printer has had no trouble since. I have no issues with the printer and yes the ink is very pricey but there are some decent deals on Amazon for the ink. The bad news is if you are expecting the technology of a higher end machine from this $30 printer then yes you will be disappointed but if you are looking for a product that will just handle your simple print/scan jobs then you will be pleased. On the bright side if you are having trouble with installation, the customer service was made up of folks who actually know the products they represent.
