I received this as a present and it works great! It put a new edge on a well used chef knife. I used that knife the day after sharpening it to slice a pineapple. The razor sharp edge easily glided through the husk and core, my thumb and thumb nail. An E.R. visit and 8 stitches later, I can honestly say that this is the best sharpener I have ever used. Big thumbs up!
