Going on 3 years and still in the sky!
This is the smallest micro quad on the market and it's the best of the best, in my opinion. It comes with a 4ch transmitter (TX) and runs at 2.4ghz with 6 axis gyro technology. Keep in mind you can fit this in the palm of your hand.
I've crashed this thing several times and the worse I've done was replace a prop. I give this a solid 5 stars. This can be flown indoors or outdoors and the range is ridiculous. I've flown it further then 300 meters. There is no RTH feature which means the range is true. It weighs more than it looks and holds its own against a lot of the larger more expensive quads. It has no problem cutting through 5-7 mph winds.
You can put it into expert mode and do flips and barrel rolls. The price is the best part. I can buy 3 of these compared to the RTF Nano and it handles better. I own both and prefer this one over any micro quad on the market. I bought 3 and will keep the other 2 put up until I need them but from what I can tell it'll be a while before I crack the seal on them.
If you're looking to get into RC's this will be a good start in regular mode. Wait until you've mastered it before you put it into expert mode. I highly recommend this quad. Happy flying
Update 12/8/13: There's 3 things I take into consideration when rating a product: price; accurate description; durability. I purchased this micro-quad for $35 and in 1 day the price went up $10 to $45, so now I expect a better product then I have.. This is still a great micro-quad but if the price continues to go up during what is suppose to be the best time to purchase items then I'd say the review needs to reflect this. If the price continues to climb I will take a star off for it each time the price changes starting at this point. I initially stated I can purchase 3 of these compared to the Blade Nano QX. This has changed. I can purchase 2 of them for the new increased price. This does change some of my opinion. If the price doesn't reflect the $35 price before the holidays are over I will just have to be satisfied I purchased 3 of them when the price was $35.
Update 12/25/13: My friend wanted to purchase the Hubsan x4 H107L, for a late Christmas gift for his son, so I checked the price and the quad has increased from $35 to $50.50. This is close to a 40% increase in just 19 days. I mentioned I rate products based on 3 things. Price, accurate description and durability. The quad is fun but once the price goes beyond its value it needs to be mentioned. I would gladly recommend this quad at the $35 - $40 price point. At its current price of $50.50 I would look at other higher priced quads with more technology in them to justify spending more. At this point I give the quad just 3 stars.
Update 8/27/2015:
As I mentioned before, when I purchased this quad, I picked up three of them, and nearly three years later, I'm still flying the original one with two tucked away. I think this speaks volumes. Granted, I've replaced all 4 props 3 times and have over a dozen batteries. I cycle through with touch-n-go's, so I'm in the sky longer, but all said I'm happy with this little beast.
I know some people have given me some encouragement to add the 2 stars back and I refused, due to price increases of 30%-40%. I'm giving this review its due and adding the 2 stars back, because of the strength of this quad, over time.
I have all three DJI Phantoms and would like to emphasize this point...if you learn how to fly this quad masterfully, you'll have no problem flying a quad with tech under the hood, with features like self-hovering without sticks; self-leveling without sticks; return to home without sticks; GPS navigation; compass and advanced gyros; altimeter; just to name a few. See you in the sky!
