I got the idea from a friend, but I use these 6qt bins for shoe storage. I have an unmentionable number of shoes (I'm both proud and embarrassed at the actual number) and these bins are a perfect for size 10 in men's dress and athletic shoes. I would say this is the max capacity for this size of bin. I've attached pictures, but the idea is to keep my shoes clean in between their infrequent wearings. I have so many that just don't get worn enough to get dirty and I was sick of having to dust them when I did want them. The bins aren't an airtight seal or waterproof by any means, but they will keep the dust from collecting. Note: This solution replaces the cheap over the door hangers that inevitably rip from the weight and I will likely repurpose those to a storage closet for cleaners, rags and brushes.
