So effective! Thank goodness!
My boyfriend and I were just on the cusp of a bad roach infestation. It was totally our own faults, as we had seen little tiny ones here and there and just assumed they would pass through; we really didn't want to kill them (we're the type who use have-a-heart traps for mice). Yeah, we were idiots. Finally it got to be every night we'd see one, and they were definitely getting bigger. I bought the Genterol Insect Growth Hormone, which basically acts as birth control for the little buggers, but by then it was too late. They had already grown up and started breeding, and the Genterol wasn't enough. One night, we came home and there were about half dozen running around the sink. One got into the silverware drawer. This was war. I bought this product based on it's great reviews, and have to add my own to say that it lives up to the hype! We applied it along the sink, under the cabinets and along the floorboards. Taking an idea I read in another review, we put dots of it on index cards and put them in the cupboards, drawers, and under the appliances. The next morning, a lot of the product had been eaten already! My boyfriend went to work, so I was alone on roach patrol. When I got up in the morning, there were about 10 roaches staggering around in the middle of the room or dead. Throughout the day, I removed about 30 roaches. Every 15 minutes or so, I'd walk into the kitchen, and there'd be one or two more on the floor! This kept up for about 2 days, and the numbers steadily dwindled. The last one I saw was about a week after we applied, crawling on the ceiling above a book shelf, and repeatedly falling. Obviously, it was poisoned too. Haven't seen one since (it's been another week)! THANK GOD FOR ADVION! A couple comments: Instructions say apply several dots; we did long stripes and it didn't seem to make a difference. You get 4 big tubes of product; we used about a third of one. I read online that you should leave the corpses so other roaches will eat them and get poisoned, but I just wanted them out of the house, so I threw out the ones I saw. However, I imagine so many must have been dying in the walls, ::shudder:: that there was plenty of cannibalism to go around. Finally, our dog had no interest in eating these guys or the paste itself, but I'm sure if you have pets or children who might be at-risk, you should be extra cautious; especially if they might eat the poisoned corpses. Overall, Advion did the job in about a week, and the Genterol is there as backup now. The nightmare was over before it even began! Highly recommended. EDIT: Still love this product, but the aforementioned dog eventually did decide to help herself to a taste of the gel while it was on the floor. I freaked out, but some quick investigation indicated that it's actually not toxic (at least in small doses) to us non-roaches. Obviously, I stopped putting it on the floor just in case, but she was totally fine.
